House Akerdijk
Design for the refurbishment and extension of a semi-detached house on a dyke in Badhoevedorp, North Holland. The original layout of the semi-detached house is restored and enlarged with a contrasting black extension. Due to several modifications the interior of the house has become a labyrinth of unorganized spaces, the new extension not only adds space but also restores the clear and original floor plan. The house will be divided into three zones; a functional zone containing compact elements such as stairs, toilet, shower and storage. Second is a small distribution zone for movement and the third zone contains the main living spaces. A closed, semi-open and open wooden structure amplifies the three zones in the facade.
